Getting to the workshops at CSIRO and Monash

Chartered bus

If you're staying at or near the conference venue (Pullman Albert Park), a chartered bus for attendees of the AMAS workshops at CSIRO and Monash will ferry attendees between the Pullman Albert Park and CSIRO / Monash (leaving in the morning, returning in the afternoon). The bus will run on both of the workshop days (Monday the 9th, and Tuesday the 10th of February).

The chartered bus will depart from the Pullman Albert Park Hotel at 8:00am on Monday and Tuesday.

Location of CSIRO and Monash

The CSIRO Clayton Site and the New Horizons building of Monash University are both located on Research Way, Clayton.

Driving to CSIRO / Monash

If driving, enter the CSIRO site through the main gates on Research Way. Visitor parking is available near Central Reception (best for attendees of the Laser Ablation Users Meeting and Workshop), and Western Reception (best for for all other workshops at CSIRO, or if the central reception visitor car park is full).

Catching public transport to CSIRO / Monash

Public transport connectivity to the CSIRO site from the City of Melbourne is sub-optimal. The nearest railway line to CSIRO is the Dandenong/Cranbourne line, and buses run from Huntingdale or Clayton railway stations to the Monash University Clayton Campus. CSIRO is located on the northern border of the Monash Clayton Campus, which is a ~10-15min walk from the bus station at Monash, which is on the opposite (southern) edge of the campus. Attendees catching public transport to the CSIRO workshops are encouraged to plan their bus/train journey using the Transport Victoria Journey Planner. If travelling by public transportation to the workshops, please leave plenty of time to get here early.

If you get here early, Cafelito is located in the ground floor of the New Horizons building, and opens at 7am.

Meeting point and registration at CSIRO

If you are in the Laser Ablation User Group Meeting and Workshop, go to central reception at CSIRO.

If you are in any other workshop at CSIRO, go to the western reception at CSIRO.

For your safety, please don't walk through the CSIRO carpark or along the site ring road. A footpath is provided along the northern edge of Research Way on the CSIRO site.

Signing in

To access any room within the CSIRO site, you will need to register at the appropriate reception (western, or central), and get a name tag. Multiple tablets will be provided for registrants to enter their data. Please arrive at least 20 minutes before the start time, in case you need to queue.

Central Reception

CSIRO Central Reception is directly facing the main CSIRO gates on Research Way. You can't miss it. Look for the big revolving door. This is where you go if you're attending the Laser Ablation workshop.

Western Reception

CSIRO Western reception is to the west of Central Reception, as you might expect. If you're driving, turn left after entering the main gates, go past the staff car park, take the sweeping corner past the curious building with inexplicably round ground-floor windows, then look for visitor parking on your left.

Meeting point at Monash

Please assemble in the foyer of the New Horizons building, 20 Research Way, Clayton, and follow the AMAS signs and/or the instructions of the workshop coordinators to find Seminar Room 4.07 and 4.08.

Workshop Health and Safety Requirements

To visit the CSIRO site, you must wear footwear with enclosed toes. No exceptions may be made.

Please also note that smoking is prohibited on the CSIRO site. Attendees wishing to smoke during breaks at the workshops will need to exit the CSIRO site completely; the shortest distance to do so is at Bayview Ave., outside the Monash University site. Please dispose of all cigarette butts responsibly.
